About this Event
Celebrated singer and musician Bruce Ncube returns to Frome, where he will lead us in an exciting weekend of Zimbabwean song and rhythm.
Sat 28th March - Singing
Day 1 : Beginning on Sat 28th March at The Bennett Centre, BA11 1PX. Bruce will teach more beautiful and uplifting Zimbabwean four-part harmonies. Singing songs of community, spirituality and history, all taught in the traditional call-and-response style. This time, there is an option to continue into the evening with an African meal followed by more gentle, candlelit singing. See Agenda below for more details.
No singing experience is necessary, and adults of all singing levels are welcome.
Sun 29th March - Drumming
Day 2: The next day, on Sun 29th March at Nunney Village Hall, BA11 4NR, Bruce will teach Zimbabwean drum rhythms. This workshop is open to beginners as well as experienced drummers. See Agenda below for more details.
Doors open at 10.00 a.m for a 10.30 start. (Both days)
On both days there will be two comfort breaks (morning at 11.30, afternoon at 3pm) and a Lunch break from 1 - 2pm. Complimentary tea and coffee will be available during the morning and afternoon breaks. It's advisable to bring a bottle of water with you.
BOOKINGS are in ADVANCE ONLY and carry a booking fee. Please bring proof of booking with you.
NOTE: The Bennett Centre does not currently have disabled access. The entrance is up a flight of steps.
A donation from any profits made from this event will go to The RhyZim School of Drumming and Percussion.

Info: Doors open at 10 a.m for a 10.30 start. There will be a morning break, lunch break and afternoon tea break (complimentary coffee and tea will be served during the morning and afternoon breaks) Lunch break at 1.00pm - Those who have brought a packed lunch are welcome to stay in The Bennett Centre, others may wish to visit the cafes and restaurants in town for lunch. Daytime singing will finish at 4.30pm. Those who are attending the in the evening are invited back for a delicious Zimbabwean meal at 6.30 pm. The evening singing will begin at 7.30 pm and finish at 9.00pm. IMPORTANT: Please respond to the dietary requirement question when making your ticket purchase.

Sunday 29th March 2026 / Zimbabwean Drumming Workshop
Info: Bruce will teach some wonderful multi-layered drum grooves. This workshop is aimed at all levels (including beginners) and will give an exciting introduction into traditional Zimbabwean percussion. IMPORTANT: to ensure that everyone has a drum on the day, please respond to the drum question when purchasing your ticket.
