Smut Slam DC: Back in the Saddle Play sexy games, win sexy prizes at this inclusive real-life storytelling open mic-- a rowdy, warm, welcoming pub night out!
About this Event

The speaker holds the mic in a hand that shakes a little. “I’m so nervous,” they admit. “I’ve never been onstage before. I didn’t think I’d really be picked for a story tonight!”

As one, the audience erupts into cheers of support, applauding, calling out, “You got this!” “We love you!” “Your life is awesome!”

And for the next five minutes, that first-time-onstage storyteller delights the packed house, sharing a real sex story from their lives. It might be funny, or sweet, or shocking; it might be queer or straight; kinky or soft, solo or duet or a whole damn symphony of smutty; the teller might be fat, or trans, or disabled, or mature. They might stumble over a word or ramble a little-- but it turns out to be part of the charm. Whatever that story is, whoever the teller is, the audience adores them…and feels safer in their own sexuality.

The judges are making note of the really exceptional stories, and this one has them riveted.

That storyteller who’s never been onstage before goes home with a sex toy prize and a glow of pride.

That’s the magic that is Smut Slam.

How it works:

  • This is a storytelling OPEN MIC– that means you’re the show!
  • Audience members can sign up to tell a 5 minute story about something real AND CONSENSUAL that happened to them in their sex lives.
  • A panel of local celebrity judges scores each teller, and the top 3 tellers go home with a prize– spicy toys, books, event memberships, safer sex supplies.
  • There’s also the Fuckbucket, where audience members can write down anonymous questions (about sex ed, relationships, resources, etc) or sexy confessions, and your femme-cee Diva Darling will read them aloud between stories. At the end of the night, all Fuckbucket entries are put into a raffle for a prize from our sponsor Uberlube!

This month, our theme is “Back in the Saddle”. (Use the theme as a prompt– but you’re welcome to tell an off-theme story if you don’t have one on-theme.) Tell us about the beast unleashed when you finally ended your dry spell. Give us your reverse-cowgirl tale that’s got everyone taking notes. How long did you stay mounted on your stud (or bull)? We can’t wait to hear about everyone’s happiest trails.

A few things to know:

  • Our venue, Pubkey DC, is physically accessible! (We’ve been holding out for an accessible venue.)
  • Doors open at 7, and you can hang out in the front bar even earlier than that. Please enjoy Pubkey’s “gourmet pub grub” menu if you want to grab dinner.
  • This is a queer-fem-run, inclusive and affirming space with a zero tolerance policy for assholes. Smut Slam audiences are diverse in age, race, gender, and body type. There are always a lot of queer and polyamorous/nonmonogamous folks. Whoever you are, you’ll find a warm welcome here.
  • There’s no dress code– be casual, be fabulous, be sexy, be nerdy, just be street-legal and you’re all good.
  • You can buy a copy of the first-ever Smut Slam International book, Anonymous Sex Vol. I, at the show and it’ll be signed and erotically doodled by Diva Darling.
  • If tickets are available at the door, you can pay with $30 cash (exact change), Venmo, Cashapp, or PayPal.
  • If tickets are NOT available at the door, we’ll have a waitlist in case of no-shows.
  • See full rules and details here: https://smutslam.com/codeofconduct/

How it started:

Smut Slam DC began in 2015, the first licensed branch of creator Cameryn Moore’s original touring Smut Slam and the beginning of Smut Slam International (now in 25 cities around the world). Under producers Diva Darling and Mindi Mimosa, it ran monthly sold-out shows for five years, gathering a devoted following informally known as the Slamily. Diva Darling continued the show virtually as a solo producer in the first year of COVID shutdown before the show went on indefinite hiatus. Now, Diva’s proud to finally bring this beloved, inclusive, sex-positive experience back to the DC stage. Come experience the wild, funny, rowdy, and yet oddly wholesome night of community and joy that is SMUT SLAM DC!

Tickets: $20 early bird, $25 presale, $30 door

(want to give back to your community? Can't make the show, but want to help others attend? Choose the "contribute to gift tickets" option to fund community tickets for those in economic hardship!
