Slow down and reconnect with yourself through beginner-friendly, nature-inspired sketching!
About this Event

Step away from the rush of daily life and give yourself the space to slow down, observe, and create. This beginner-friendly workshop invites you to explore sketching as a gentle, mindful practice, one that helps you experience a sense of flow, reconnect with yourself, and discover your own creative voice.

These sessions are rooted not only in creativity, but also in wellness.

There is now strong and growing evidence that drawing and careful observation support brain health, helping improve focus, memory, and overall cognitive vitality. Even just 10 minutes of drawing a day can bring meaningful benefits. My intention is to introduce you to this simple, beautiful practice, one that can support your wellbeing on many levels.

For your wellbeing

  • A calming, mindful practice to help you slow down and reduce stress
  • Supports focus, memory, and overall brain health
  • Encourages a sense of flow and presence
  • A gentle way to reconnect with yourself and your surroundings
  • Builds a simple, nourishing daily habit (even 10 minutes can make a difference)

For your creative practice

  • Strengthen your observation skills by drawing from nature
  • Build confidence in sketching in a relaxed, supportive setting
  • Develop a more intuitive, expressive drawing style
  • Deepen your connection to your creative process
  • Create a consistent practice that supports artistic growth

These sessions are open and welcoming to beginners and older kids who are curious to explore creativity in a calm, supportive environment.

What to bring:
Any sketchbook, an HB pencil, or your favourite drawing materials. For outdoor sessions, a small folding chair or stool is optional for comfort (simple ones from places like Canadian Tire are usually around $15 and work perfectly) and blanket.

On rainy days (studio sessions), please bring a small object from nature, such as a flower, leaf, twig, or anything you would enjoy drawing.

Location details (IMPORTANT):
On dry days, we will meet next to IGA, Collingwood corner at 10 am, and take a short 15–20 minute walk together to Jericho Beach. I will also be exploring and introducing other beautiful outdoor locations over time.
If it’s raining, the session will take place in my studio on 3495 West 4th Avenue, Unit 6, in Kitsilano.

These will be ongoing, regular sessions, offering you a chance to build a consistent creative and mindful practice, one small pause at a time.

See you there!
