Learn how to use liquid clay (slip) in squeeze bottles to create raised lines, patterns, and illustrations on ceramic surfaces.
Slip trailing is a versatile surface technique used across many ceramic traditions and allows makers to approach clay like drawing: building texture and imagery directly onto the surface. This relaxed, all-levels workshop encourages experimentation and personal expression, making it perfect for beginners as well as experienced ceramicists looking to expand their surface design skills.
Participants will leave with decorated pieces that will be fired and ready for pickup at a later date. Shipping is also an option for off-island students.
Schedule: July 5th, 12-3pm.
This class is held in the ceramics studio in the main art building on the origiginal AAC campus at 1255 Wold Rd. Directions and parking information will be included in your confirmation email.
This class is taught by visiting artist-in-residence Ivy Mattson. Ivy joins us for the month of May and is a ceramic artist based in Minneapolis, MN. You can learn more about her here!
Registration: Please register early if you are able, as it helps us to assure that classes meet their minimums in order to run! If you register more than three weeks before this class begins, a 20% early bird discount will automatically be applied to your ticket at checkout.

Sustaining tickets help us continue to invest in programming. Full price tickets cover the costs associated with running classes. Accessibility tickets are priced below what it costs for us to run a class. If the cost of a full price ticket is a hardship, we encourage you to purchase a sliding scale ticket. If you can pay the full price or sustaining price, please choose that option so we can keep providing arts programming to the community.
