Set in La Cañada Real on the outskirts of Madrid — one of the largest illegal shanty towns in Europe — the film follows Tonino, a 15-year-old Roma boy who has always lived there with his family. Together with his best friend Bilal, he films the world around them on a mobile phone, inspired by the gypsy legends he hears at home.
But their fragile world begins to crumble when Tonino’s family receives a notice of imminent eviction and Bilal prepares to leave La Cañada for good. Torn between the dream of a new life and his deep connection to his family and roots, Tonino faces an uncertain future.
Director Guillermo Galoe brings a sensitive and intimate portrait of youth, friendship, and belonging on the margins of a changing city.
