Sled Island Wrap-Up BBQ with TEAR DUNGEON, Wheelchair Sports Camp, afk, Sheenah Ko and more TEAR DUNGEON
This wild, gimp-mask clad noise‑punk outfit specializes in blown‑out riffs, doomy distortion, and sonic chaos that rattles your fillings. Their sound lands somewhere between Rollins-era Black Flag and a power tool having an existential crisis, and their show feels like a basement exorcism with better lighting. Get ready for some true Texan hospitality.
Wheelchair Sports Camp
Combining humorous hip-hop, playful electronic experimentation, and middle fingers all around, Wheelchair Sports Camp is “Denver's biggest smallest band.” Fronted by Kalyn Rose Heffernan, a tiny rapper who delivers high-pitched bars from a wheelchair, this group lies at the intersection of all the genre-bending weirdness, inclusive fun, and playful experimentation that make Sled Island so special.
afk
Meet NYC's best-kept secret. afk fuses hip-hop with electronic, punk and dance to bring a bombastic yet calculated sound to the masses. With its urgent electronic production and moody lyrics, the 2024 single “ricochet” is an excellent introduction to the industrial glitch-hop trio. Experience catharsis and connection. Witness a new frontier for hip-hop.
Sheenah Ko
On top of her successful career touring international stages with The Besnard Lakes and Bedouin Soundclash, electronic pop artist Sheenah Ko thrives as a solo performer, channeling her talents into producing sonically rich and harmonious music, and fusing her skills in analog synthesizers, vocals and beat production. Prepare to traverse atmospheric dreamscapes before bursting into moments of high-energy fun.
RroachH
Featuring calculated tones, catchy riffs, and lyrics inspired by mental health struggles, queer relationships, and… being a bit of a dirtbag, RroachH is a queer- and femme-fronted, alternative rock group who describe their sound as “multifarious.” The four-piece draws influences from power-pop, emo, and psych, and have shared the stage with PUP, Speedy Ortiz and Bif Naked.
Shy FRiEND
Brutally honest, tragically dramatic, and full of feminine rage, alt rock six-piece SHY FRiEND has been turning the Alberta music scene into a church for all the queer, pop and punk misfits. They create over-the-top experiences with bombastic visuals, absurd bits, and raucous energy that makes every venue a party, and every oddball in the room a valued guest.
Oranje
A dynamic math-rock five-piece known for their tight, start-stop arrangements rooted in jazz and articulated through a raw punk-tinged energy, Oranje began when three University of Calgary alumni crossed paths in the jazz orchestra and discovered their shared love for emo and experimental instrumental music.
His His
The recording project of Halifax-based artist Aidan Belo, His His combines contemporary slacker rock and alt-folk, coupled with low fidelity analog production to create something that sounds honest and melancholic. Since their first release in 2020, they’ve exclusively recorded via cassette in an old wooden barn. We can’t wait to hear how it sounds live.
CHLORINETIMEMACHINE
With songs that are equal parts danceable and discomforting, Vancouver noise punk trio CHLORINETIMEMACHINE deliver blown out feedback, heavy-hitting grooves and textural noise, creating a high-energy frenetic atmosphere that is best appreciated live, loud, and sweaty. Check out their latest single “LIFE OF PARTY DROWNS” for a taste of the chaos.
sadbirthdays
Led by Tsuut’ina/Amskapi Piikani/Cree multidisciplinary artist Seth Cardinal Dodginghorse, sadbirthdays (formerly known as soft cure) is an experimental project that blends alternative/indie rock, slowcore, grunge and shoegaze into a genre self-described as “pastel wave.” 2026 will see the release of their new album, catholic ladders, which was recorded in the residential schools that Seth’s grandfather attended.
Hailstones
Blending lush guitars, hypnotic bass, and expressive vocals with hybrid electronic-acoustic rhythms, Hailstones is a Calgary-based dream pop/shoegaze project with industrial undertones. 2025 saw the release of their debut LP The Weariness of Hope, showcasing the group’s exploratory approach to both sound and lyricism.
Chic Chameleon
Blurring the tenuous lines between shoegaze and dream pop, Chic Chameleon crafts an indie rock sound that’s both cinematic and deeply introspective. Drawing inspiration from artists like The War on Drugs and Porches, the band weaves sleek synths, luscious guitar tones, and soulful vocals into a soundscape that shimmers with nostalgia and intensity.
