An all-Sibelius recital of music for violin and piano, and piano solo
President of the U.K. Sibelius Society Edward Clark states: ‘Hearing these delightful and melodic works will allow our audience to hear another side of Sibelius, away from the grand and glorious orchestral works, many of which are masterpieces of the 20th century. The piano and violin brought out a more intimate side of Sibelius’s character and he played both instruments from childhood.’
Programme:
Sonata in A minor for Violin and Piano (1884) - This performance is believed to be the UK premiere
Works for Piano Solo:
Florestan Suite
Five Esquisses, Op.114
Interval
Works for Violin and Piano:
Six Pieces, Op.79
Five Pieces, Op.81
