Entries are open for the 2026 Shropshire Junior Chess Championships. Experience over the board tournament chess with other juniors from your region and compete for both trophies and medals as we crown the top Shropshire Juniors in each age group. Enjoy live commentary of the top games from some Thalia Holmes, the champion of BBC Chess Masters.This tournament is open to all junior players regardless of home location who are under 18 years of age on 1st September 2025.
The tournament will consist of 6 rounds with all entrants playing all 6 matches. There are 5 sections:
U18
U14
U12
U10
U8
This tournament is open to all including those who have never before entered a chess tournament. Our team of volunteers will be on hand to assist those players who are unfamiliar with tournament play and ensure a fun day is had by all. If you are unsure if your child is of a suitable ability please feel free to have a discussion with the tournament organiser (Chris Lewis – 07508 487092).
