About this Event
SHOWPAO is our annual event dedicated to celebrating Filipino culture and supporting the community of Montreal.
For this year’s SHOWPAO, the Filipino Organization of Concordia University Students presents SHOWPAO: THE MUSICAL, a modern adaptation of Florante’t Laura exploring Filipino immigrant and Montrealer experiences through music and drama. This event fosters cultural expression, intergenerational dialogue, and community engagement.

- Proceeds will go to our actors and hired staff after fees and taxes.
- Eventbrite Ticketing fees will apply upon the purchase of tickets
- No walk-ins will be permitted on the day of the event

History of this celebration: The name 'SHOWPAO' is a wordplay on the word siopao, a Philippine indigenized version of the Cantonese steamed bun called cha siu bao. It was popularized by Cantonese immigrant, Ma Mon Luk, who moved to Binondo, Manila as a street vendor and later, a restaurant owner. The history of siopao is a mirror to the Filipinx-Montrealer experience as Canadian immigrants and our diversity and influence of different cultures common in Philippine history. 🧡💙
