Every month, we read a short story in English (100 – 8000 words long) written by a marginalized author (LGBTQIA+/Person of Color/political activist) and discuss it within queer community using some fun techniques, such as freewriting. Taking a closer look, we delve deeper to learn what the story is about, how we interpret it, why it’s written the way it is, and what it makes us think and feel. A piece of fiction has as many versions as it has readers, so let’s meet and share our own!🌱
Short Story Club is a perfect place for:
● readers who can’t commit to a longer text
● readers who can't stop committing to texts both long and short
● writers who wants to learn from other authors through critical/reflective reading
● queer folks excited to read more queer fiction
● (ex-)students who want to do more critical reading in a safe environment
● short stories fans!! what??
Our next club meeting will take place on July 3rd, 17:00 - 19:00, and we’re going to yap about “Our Lady of the Quarry”, a short horror story by Mariana Enríquez. The story takes about 20 minutes to read, which makes it a perfect fit for a train ride/lunch break/lazy morning. This time, it’s best to take a look at it beforehand, since we’ll only read an excerpt at the beginning of our meetup.
