D/troit er en intens og eksplosiv blanding af rendyrket soul, funk og kærlighed, som sjældent ses i Danmark. I en lyd og vibe så autentisk, at det lige så godt kunne være hevet ud af Detroit i 1960’erne. Og med en live-optræden, der musikalsk forfører publikum og skaber liv på dansegulvet.
Man tror næppe, at D/troit består af otte hvide M/K’er fra København. For D/troit er både lyden af din fars skamspillede yndlings-LP fra 1960’erne og rummer samtidigt et mere moderne take på soulgenren. Siden 2013 har bandet forfinet deres hæsblæsende, gritty retro-soul, og de har efterhånden cementeret sig som Danmarks ubestridte soulkonger.
D/Troit udgav albummet ”Heavy” (2022), og GAFFA kvitterede med 4 stjerner, og beskriver bl.a. D/troit, som ”ægte, svedig soul og funk (...) med en ægthed og ligefremhed, der får en til at overgive sig". Albummet er skabt sammen med en perlerække af lydtroldmænd som Wayne Gordon (Bruno Mars, Amy Winehouse), Simon Guzmán (Pharrell Wiliams, The Dap-Kings), Jesper ‘Yebo’ Reginal (Junior Senior, PowerSolo) og Ki!
Siden debutsinglen udkom på Crunchy Frog i 2015, har D/troit høstet roser i Danmark såvel som i udlandet for den groovy retrolyd, der har været bandets omdrejningspunkt fra start. Allerede året efter debuten sikrede de sig titlen “Best New Band” til Scandinavian Soul Music Awards for EP’en ‘Do The Right Thing’, som også blev belønnet med 4 stjerner i GAFFA og dommen: “En uforskammet velproduceret EP”.
Bandet har modtaget en lang række anerkendelser både i ind- og udland, bl.a. fra BBC Radio 6, Parliament Funkadelic og James Browns band.

D/troit is an intense and explosive blend of pure soul, funk, and love rarely seen in Denmark. With a sound and vibe so authentic, it might as well have been pulled straight out of Detroit in the 1960s—and a live performance that musically seduces the audience and brings the dance floor to life.
It’s hard to believe that D/troit consists of eight white men and women from Copenhagen. D/troit is both the sound of your dad’s worn-out favorite LP from the 1960s and, at the same time, a more modern take on the soul genre. Since 2013, the band has refined their high-energy, gritty retro soul, and they have firmly established themselves as Denmark’s undisputed kings of soul.
D/troit released the album “Heavy” (2022), which received 4 stars from GAFFA, describing the band as “real, sweaty soul and funk (…) with an authenticity and directness that makes you surrender.” The album was created in collaboration with a string of sonic wizards such as Wayne Gordon (Bruno Mars, Amy Winehouse), Simon Guzmán (Pharrell Williams, The Dap-Kings), Jesper “Yebo” Reginal (Junior Senior, PowerSolo), and Ki!
