No way is Tina going to have children. Her mother and grandmother were locked away with postnatal depression. But then, she gets pregnant…
One woman’s plunge into motherhood, cabbage-pads and a tango with her inner critic. Based on the true stories of four generations of women, 'Shhh!' is a mix of physical theatre, storytelling and cabaret with live music. There's also a strong element of mask work influenced by Commedia dell'Arte.
'Shhh!' has a stellar international cast and crew from New Zealand, Norway, Australia and Italy. It is written and performed by Lisa Brickell (NZ) and musician/ actor Siri Embla (Norway), and directed by Ruth Dudding (NZ) and Giovanni Fusetti (Italy). ‘Shhh!’ is informed by research into historical healthcare records of women admitted to psychiatric hospitals in Australia, by Dr Diana Jefferies and her team from Western Sydney University.
