Literary scholar, critic and interviewer, Dr Tim Rideout sits down with our Curator Ann Cleeves to reflect on 20 years of Jimmy Perez, Shetland, and what's to come.Ann Cleeves' books have been translated into 20 languages. She's a bestseller in Scandinavia and Germany, and her novels sell widely and to critical acclaim in the United States. Twelve series of Vera, the ITV adaption of her novels starring Brenda Blethyn, have been shown in the UK and worldwide. There have also been 10 series of Shetland, based on the characters and settings of her Shetland novels.
Dr Timothy (Tim) Rideout is known for his work in Gothic studies and for engaging authors and audiences at literary festivals and events, where he regularly chairs panels and conducts in-depth interviews with writers. Tim's academic work explores how modern fiction engages with cultural anxieties and social precarity, themes central to his book Gothic Precarity: Fear and Anxiety in Twenty-First-Century Fiction, published by the University of Wales Press as part of their Gothic Literary Studies series.
