Dianah Smith is a Jamaican born, Ottawa raised writer, teacher and arts educator based in Toronto. A winner of the 2023 Writers' Trust McClelland & Stewart Journey Prize celebrating the Best of Canada's New Black Writers; she has been published by University of Alberta Press, McGraw-Hill Ryerson and the Centre for Policy Alternatives. She is the founder of 'A' is for Orange, (2005-2010) a reading series/incubator for queer emerging writers of Caribbean descent; the recipient of numerous writing and professional development grants she has been a jury member for local and provincial arts funding organizations. She says writing is a way to grieve/retrieve the past, make sense of the present and leave a legacy for the future.
Guy Elston is a Toronto-based poet, originally from the UK. His debut poetry collection is The Character Actor Convention (The Porcupine's Quill, 2025). His poems have appeared in The Malahat Review, The Ex-Puritan, Grain, Geist, The Literary Review of Canada and elsewhere.
