About this Event
April COL Theme: Seek to Understand
Most of us think we listen.
But often, we are:
- waiting for our turn to speak
- trying to fix
- or interpreting through our own assumptions
And without realising it, we miss what is actually being said.
What if the problem is not that people are difficult…
but that we are playing different games without realising it?
This month’s focus: Curiosity
In this session, we explore what it means to truly seek to understand.
Not just listening to respond.
But learning to notice:
- the rules people are operating by
- the assumptions we carry
- and the different “games” we are each playing in life
Because when we assume we are playing the same game, misunderstanding is almost inevitable.
The Game of Life
We begin with a simple idea: Life is a game.
Through a guided activity, we explore:
- What are the rules you are living by?
- Who are the players in your life?
- What are you trying to achieve or protect?
And more importantly:
What happens when someone else is playing by a completely different set of rules?
This is where curiosity begins.
Special Segment: Staying Present
This session will feature a guided activity by Vignesh Singh, a trained clown and long-time collaborator.
Clowning teaches us something most of us have forgotten:
To stay present.
To respond instead of react.
To be in a “yes-mode”: open, aware, and engaged with what is happening now.
What you will experience
- Interactive, embodied activities
- Honest conversations with other men
- Moments of reflection and insight
You don’t need to be good at this.
You just need to be willing.
Why this matters
Many of us want to be understood.
But fewer of us know how to truly understand others.
This session is a practice in closing that gap.
