BIOLOGICAL | 1:15 PM - 1:30 PM
Set in the 90s during the "Golden Age" of Hip-hop. A talented MC living in obscurity in Seattle, WA must choose between fame and fatherhood when he finally gets the break he's been waiting for. Biological is a beautiful and authentic depiction of an unsung Black community living at the crossroads of mountains, water and concrete.
Director Biography - Justin Emeka
Justin Emeka is a filmmaker and proud father with over 25 years of directing professional at theaters including: the Old Globe, Yale Repertory Theater, Philadelphia Theatre Company, Juilliard, Seattle Rep, Syracuse Stage, and Classical Theater of Harlem. He is the Resident Director at the Pittsburgh Public Theater as well as a tenured faculty member of Oberlin College. During the pandemic he began making films with his son. In 2022, he received a fellowship in TV/Film Directing from The Drama League of New York and served as “shadow director” on two episodes of the Disney + limited series, A Small Light. His first short film, "Six Winters Gone Still",premiered in November at the Black Harvest Film Festival in Chicago. BIOLOGICAL, is his second short film that is a proof of concept for his feature length screenplay "Rain without Thunder".

A father shows up unexpectedly to his daughter's house whom he hasn't seen in 13 years. Looking for her forgiveness, he intends to explain the reasons behind his absence in her life, but would that be enough to rekindle a relationship with her?
Director Biography - Tadessa Imobersteg
Tadessa Imobersteg is a female filmmaker who intends through her work to inspire, bring to reflexion and encourage people to keep going no matter the challenges life throws at us. She holds a bachelor's degree in communication, a master's degree in broadcasting and is currently finishing a one year film certificate from San Francisco Film School. Although this is her first short narrative film, she intends to produce and direct many more and her second short film is already in the making.

After his father's death, Isaac returns home to reconcile their complex relationship. Adapted from the novel by Dr. Daniel Black, Devin McKay's 'Don't Cry for Me' depicts a grieving son challenged with a decision - to hold onto anger or forgive.
Director Biography - Devin McKay
Devin McKay is a writer, director, and actor based in Atlanta, GA. Focusing on the fusion of family and identity elements. Devin enjoys exploring the vast corners of the human experience through his filmmaking and storytelling.
