Learn the essential sewing basics while making a tote bag.
About this Event

This two-part beginners sewing class is built to teach you techniques and terminology, and get you comfortable with your way around a sewing machine, all while making something you can walk out and fill with books, groceries or more fabric for your next project. This is a perfect class to prepare you for your own alterations too, things like hems and side seam edits are using these techniques.

We recommend taking the Machine 101 class before starting the Tote Bag Class so you can feel confident on the machine.

You will learn these fundamentals of sewing in an easy way on one of our brand new sewing machines provided by Quality Sew and Vacuum, or bring your home machine and we're happy to get you set up feeling confident on that machine as well.

Event Details:

Dates: Two consecutive Wednesdays, May 20th & 27th

When: 5-7:30p

Location: 2307 1st Ave Seattle inside Ghosts Vintage

Here is your supplies list, we recommend shopping at

1yd pre-washed mid-weight cotton or home decor fabric, nothing too thin or too thick please, duck canvas would be the thickest you could work with in this class.

1/4 yard or a small square cut of contrasting material for the pocket, it really just needs to be 10" x 10".

4 or more yards of 1" Cotton webbing for straps. There's a lot of colors out there too.

Matching polyester thread.

*We have all kinds of random fabric if you'd like to roll the dice and purchase some of what's already in the studio for $25, we just can't promise it's the cutest materials.

We provide these supplies and they are available for purchase from us too:

Scissors

Pins

Rulers

Chalk

Please come on time, and for any and all other questions google can't answer, please email the instructor Katy at [email protected]
