The Center for Middle East Studies presents Media in Wartime: Part I with Avi Mayer, former Editor in Chief of The Jerusalem Post, a leading Israeli media outlet, and CNN commentator.

The conversation will focus on journalism and the media during the war, including the experience of running a major Israeli newspaper before, on, and after October 7. Mr. Mayer will also address the challenges of wartime journalism and answer critical questions about journalistic coverage, press freedom, local and international media access, and media bias. Further, the conversation will highlight the impact of war on journalists and society. The event will conclude with an open audience Q&A session.
This discussion will be moderated by Micheline Ishay, professor at Josef Korbel School of International Studies and the Director for the school’s Center for Middle East Studies, along with Ahmed Abdrabou professor at Josef Korbel School of International Studies and the Associate Director for the school’s Center for Middle East Studies.
