About this Event
This participatory symposium will explore forms and challenges of sensory, embodied and creative methods in the wider context of practice research.
After a keynote presentation by Dr Mira Benjamin – violinist, researcher, and lecturer in Music at City St. George’s, London – speakers and attendees will be able to participate in four exploratory workshop sessions led by UoM researchers from Music, English Literature, Geography, French Studies, and Archaeology.
The event’s main objective is to encourage critical and collaborative reflection regarding practice and methodologies, theoretical positioning, and epistemological concerns within practice research and sensory scholarship in the widest sense.
We aim to share current methods as well as introduce colleagues from all career stage to fertile overlaps between subject areas.
Together we will explore the diverse definitions and methodologies of Practice Research across the arts and humanities, with a view to developing new cross-departmental networks and supporting inter-institutional collaboration.
The event is organised by Henry McPherson and Manon Raffard.
