About this Event

Self-help books are some of the most popular and most borrowed books of all genres. People love to read about how they can improve their health, their attitudes and their lives in general. So many people read self-improvement books, but how many actually attempt to put some of what they've read into practice?

This reading group aims to do just that - help you help yourself by discussing ways in which theory can be put into practice.

See here for the books available online from the library.

Looking for practical ways to manage your thoughts, emotions, and everyday challenges?

Join us as we explore CBT For Dummies, a clear and accessible guide to one of the most effective and widely used forms of psychotherapy: cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT).

Whether you’re completely new to CBT or looking to deepen your understanding, this book breaks down powerful, evidence-based techniques into simple, easy-to-follow steps you can apply in your daily life. From managing anxiety and low mood to building healthier habits and improving overall wellbeing, CBT offers tools that are both practical and transformative.

In this session, we’ll explore how CBT can help you:

• Understand the connection between thoughts, emotions, and behaviours
• Identify and challenge unhelpful thinking patterns
• Manage anxiety, stress, and low mood more effectively
• Build confidence, resilience, and self-esteem
• Create healthier habits and improve day-to-day wellbeing

With guided exercises and real-life applications, CBT For Dummies empowers you to take control of your mental wellbeing, whether alongside a professional or on your own.

Simple, practical, and proven. Discover how small changes in thinking can lead to big changes in life.
