The BTO (British Trust for Ornithology) report that House Sparrow populations have declined by over 70% in the last fifty years. By 2002 they had launched a detailed survey and study into possible reasons such as availability of food, loss of nesting sites, and predation. Their work continues but here is one positive response to what to some might seem to be inevitable.Harry Munt has been hands-on managing habitats since the age of 14 in every broad habitat category in the UK. His primary interest is in rewilding and ecosystem restoration. He will talk about the grassroots conservation project that he ran for 2 years from 2021 to save the House Sparrow.
