In honour of pride month, Theatreship and Abi Asisa present a special edition of Sapphic Cinema, an event dedicated to highlighting FLINTA (femme, lesbian, intersex, nonbinary, trans, asexual) stories within queer cinema plus live performance.
Film: The Handmaiden (2016)

Synopsis: Set in 1930s Korea during the Japanese occupation, the film follows a young woman hired to serve a wealthy Japanese heiress living in an isolated estate. But beneath the surface of this elegant household lies a web of deception, manipulation, and unexpected desire. As loyalties shift and hidden motives emerge, The Handmaiden unfolds through a series of twists that challenge every assumption.
After the screening there will be a live performance. The guest performer will be announced soon!
