About this Event
Sandyford Downs Community Garden is a vibrant, volunteer‑run space where people and nature come together to grow community, strengthen connections, and support biodiversity. As part of Dublin Climate Action Week 2026, this special event will explore how community gardens contribute to climate action, with a focus on the vital role composting plays in improving soil health and reducing waste.
Join Craig Benton (aka Doctor Compost) for an engaging and practical talk on how composting transforms garden waste into healthy soil, supports plant growth, and helps lock carbon into the ground. Learn what makes good compost, common mistakes to avoid, and how composting can be done at home or in shared community spaces.
You’ll also have the chance to meet the volunteers who care for the garden, enjoy a guided tour, and pick up simple, practical tips to try in your own garden or community space.
All are welcome — whether you’re a seasoned gardener or just curious to learn more.
