About this Event
Sampling and Sankofa are expressions of the same principle: go back for what you need and build something new from what you find.
Digital Sankofa applies this logic across media. The project by CultureHub Resident Artists Tahj Lakey & James Quash Stevens, IV is both autobiographical and congregational, inviting guests to dig through the artists' personal archives of inherited sounds, heirlooms, home videos, and digital media. These fragments of family history are not relics but living material through which the spaces between memory and absence are encountered. Across live music performance, interactive installations, and gesture-controlled media, the audience shapes audio and video output in real time, remixing the roles of crowd and curator in a communal act of memory-making.
This project is supported within the CultureHub Residency program.
