Samhain is the ancient Celtic precursor to Halloween. Brunch with us to mark the end of the harvest and the beginning of the dark season...
About this Event

Before there was Halloween, there was Samhain, an ancient Celtic festival, typically celebrated from October 31 to November 1, that marked the end of the harvest season and the beginning of the "dark half of the year" or winter. During Samhain, the veil between the physical and spirit worlds was believed to thin, allowing spirits, fairies, and the dead to more easily pass into the human realm. To ward off malevolent spirits and honor the dead, Celts lit bonfires, wore disguises, and placed carved, lit turnips outside their homes. These traditions are considered a precursor to modern Halloween practices, such as trick-or-treating and costumes. The feast featured foods from the final harvest, including fruits like apples and nuts, and vegetables such as pumpkins, potatoes, and cruciferous vegetables. In ancient Celtic tradition, pork was a prominent part of Samhain feasts due to its association with the harvest, fertility, and the supernatural. The pig was a symbolic and practical choice for the end-of-summer celebration, which marked the final harvest and the coming of winter.

Join us for brunch and savor pre-fix menu dishes crafted from the final fruits of the harvest and indulge in rich pastries and comforting Celtic inspired dishes. (Vegan menu is avaialble.) Whether you are engaging in the spirit of the Halloween season, or preparing for the Ireland All Blacks match, come and celebrate the turning of the seasons with food, fire, and friendship. THE EVENT IS BYOB.
