About this Event
Join us for Samba Ancestral: The Mocidade Journey. A workshop with George Louzada Vitalino, the award-winning Artistic Director, Passista Director, and choreographer for Rio de Janeiro Carnival's number one Passista ala from the highly acclaimed samba school Mocidade Independente de Padre Miguel.
This special workshop will begin by exploring the Afro-Brazilian roots of samba, tracing its origins and cultural foundations. From there, we’ll journey into what samba has become today, culminating in an introduction to the signature steps of our godmother school, Mocidade. The session will be a dynamic mix of lecture and movement—learning through storytelling and dance—offering a deep and embodied understanding of samba’s evolution and style.
This is a unique opportunity to train with one of Brazil's renowned samba professionals, who has been and still is responsible for the generation of new talent through his project, Passos da Zona Oeste. Prestigious names like the current Queen of Carnival in Rio, Gabi Mendes, and musas Dedê Marinho and Laryssa Bayer have been part of this project.
Whether you're preparing for Notting Hill Carnival or simply want to stay ahead of the curve in the samba world, this is an opportunity you won’t want to miss.
