Master Brazilian percussionist Jorge Alabe is offering a 3-week series of classes in samba drum technique in June, starting 6/7.These classes will cover technique for playing all bateria percussion instruments, including:
Caixa, repinique, surdo (1st, 2nd, 3rd), tamborim, chocalho, and agogo.
Series dates: June 7, 14, & 21
$80 for 3-class series
Advance sign-up required (not drop-in)
People of all levels are welcome, from beginning to more advanced. For experienced players, this is a great time to get coaching on improving and refining your technique; it is also an opportunity to work on technique on an instrument you haven’t had a chance to focus on and try something new.
Plan to bring your own instruments if you have them. We also have some extra instruments to borrow during the class if you don’t have your own.
Advance sign-up is required, with payment via Venmo (or other by arrangement).
