About this Event

Winter Solstice Celebration at the Salisbury Centre

🌟 Embrace the magic of the Winter Solstice with us as we gather to honour the longest night of the year and welcome the return of the light! This event offers a day of reflection, creativity, and community connection, filled with activities to warm both heart and spirit.

✨ Activities throughout the day:

  • Winter Yin Yang Yoga with Shelly (11:30-13:00): This class will consist of a short yoga flow to get the body moving before settling down for an hour-long winter themed Yin practice ending with a relaxing yoga Nidra. This class will be the perfect opportunity to slow down and nourish both body and mind.
To book your place, contact Shelly at: [email protected]
  • Yin Yoga and Therapeutic Writing Workshop with Emily (13:30-15:00): There will be a relaxing yin class, a journalling session followed by a soothing guided relaxation. Expect to feel renewed and refreshed with a greater focus on your present self and needs.
To book your place, contact Emily at: [email protected]
  • Fire Ceremony (15:00–18:00): Our welcoming hosts will offer a space to gather around the fire, reflect on the past season, and set your intentions for the coming year. There will also be opportunity to share stories and/or poetry over food, as we will learn how to make Snobrød (Camp Fire Bread).
  • Open Jam Session (15:00-18:00): There will be an open jam around the fire where we welcome you to bring an instrument and share a song if you'd like.
  • Seasonal Crafts (15:00–18:00): Decorate oranges with cloves and ribbons—a timeless solstice tradition—and bring your creation home with you.
  • Tarot Readings (15:00–18:00): Gain insight and inspiration with intuitive tarot readings offered by Amy Milner throughout the day.
  • Circle Dancing (15:30-17:30): The theme for this circle dance event will be honouring the darker days of winter and celebrating the returning light and sun energy. The dances will reflect renewal, energy, growth, looking forward.
To book your place, contact Kate at: [email protected]
  • Creativity for everyday with The Norm Project (18:00-20:00): Over the two-hour session we will explore techniques to create visual art, collage, movement sequences and poetry, all inspired by the routines of our everyday lives.
    Book your place here.

🎄 What to bring:

  • Oranges for crafting (if you’re able)
  • An instrument (if you'd like)
  • Warm clothes for enjoying outdoor activities around the fire

Come for a moment, a workshop, or stay for the day. Together, we’ll celebrate the turning of the year and the light that lives within us all.

Tickets

Please book a ticket in advance fopr the drop-in events as there is limited capacity. Suggested donation: ÂŁ5-10

Participation in our community-led events is often on a voluntary ‘by donation’ basis. This means that nobody is expected to make a payment if they cannot afford to do so. However, any donations received will be shared between the Centre and the facilitator, helping to make the events’ programme sustainable as well as to provide some reciprocity towards community facilitators’ time and skills offered.

Where a “suggested donation” is listed, this is just an indication of what the event might cost if it was ticketed – it is fine to donate less (or nothing at all). Donating is one way to show your appreciation for the value of the Salisbury Centre. Please consider ‘paying it forward’ by donating a bit extra if you can afford, helping to keep it possible for everyone to take part, regardless of their circumstances.

To donate:

bring cash on the evening, or

donate online on www.salisburycentre.org/donate (using “Solstice” as REFERENCE).

pay with card at the front door, please add a reference (eg. Solstice) using the pen icon top right on the pay-point screen.
