"Rört Special #byMembers" are classes where Rört Members get a chance to practice their craft as teachers and spaceholders and share their practice.Each #byMembers event will be a new member and a new practice. West African Guitar - with member Alex Mackenzie:
"I’m excited to share my passion for West African Guitar! I’ve studied the styles of legends like Ali Farka Touré and Tinariwen, with a focus on Mali’s rich traditions.
Join my group classes to explore simple yet powerful guitar rhythms. Just bring your tuned guitar—no perfection needed. We’ll dive into alternate tunings, so be ready to train your ear! This class suits those with some experience; beginners might find it a bit challenging."

ABOUT THE FACILITATOR:
Alex McKenzie is a versatile guitarist with a rich musical background. From 2021 to 2023, he studied under South African guitarist Derek Gripper, including time in Cape Town. Growing up in Roskilde, he was inspired by Malian musicians at the Roskilde Festival, igniting his passion for West African guitar. Now developing a solo project, Alex’s style remains deeply rooted in West African traditions.
