A textile conservation project spotlighting the crafts & communities of the Himalayas
Join us for a celebration of The Himalayan Knot, Royal Enfield's textile and pastoral land conservation project that brings together artisanal communities, designers, pastoralists, and conservationists in deep-rooted collaborations spotlighting the sustainable heritage textile traditions of the Himalayas.
The Showcase
Co-created with craft organisations and renowned designers, capsule collections emerging from the project pay tribute to the region’s intricate artistry and craftsmanship.
The Fifth Gesture | Royal Enfield x MARGN Winner of the Vogue India x Royal Enfield: The Himalayan Knot Design Prize (Season 1)
Created in collaboration with the Self-Help Group Jomche in Darcha (Himachal Pradesh, India), the collection explores many forms of prayer and faith. Using the sleeve motif as a symbol of protection, each piece embodies the union of craft and functionality, brought to life through intricate handknits and crochet by an all-women team of artisans.
Higher Plains | Royal Enfield x Suket Dhir for Looms of Ladakh A Limited-Edition Preview
Drawing inspiration from the flora, fauna, and architectural singularities of the Ladakhi highlands, this collection harmonizes pashmina with jamdani techniques. Rendered in earthy hues of Indian madder and marigold, each silhouette carries the warmth of the winter sun.
Experience the Craft
Immerse yourself in the world of the Himalayas through dedicated films screening alongside the exhibition. Explore the stories behind the craft, the land, and the communities who keep these traditions alive.
On display will be a collection of portraits of Raziya Bano, an artisan from Kargil, India. These portraits are part of "The Right to Be Seen: Reframing the Passport Photo in Craft," a series built around the concept of the unfiltered identity photograph. In this collection, artisans interpret their own faces through their unique hand skills. Conceptualized by The Voice of Fashion (an Indian fashion magazine) and curated by craft and social designer Juhi Pandey, the series was originally showcased at Journeying Across the Himalayas, Royal Enfield’s multidisciplinary cultural festival in Delhi, India.
The exhibition-cum-retail pop-up will also feature past collections under The Himalayan Knot, including design partnerships such as Royal Enfield x EKA for Looms of Ladakh, Royal Enfield x Sonam Dubal for The Action Northeast Trust, and Royal Enfield x Countrymade for both The Action Northeast Trust and The Woolknitters. These collaborations exemplify sustainable fashion rooted in cultural authenticity.
