About this Event
Rotherhithe Fabric Swap & Craft Circle – Sustainable, Social, and Sew Fun!
Bring along your unloved fabrics and haberdashery items and trade them for fresh finds and exciting new materials. Whether you’re decluttering your stash or hunting for that perfect piece, this is your chance to give fabric a second life and keep it out of landfill.
And this isn’t just a swap, it’s a craft circle for the day. Bring a project to work on (hand sewing, knitting, crochet, embroidery, mending… anything portable!) and settle in with us. The idea is to share skills, chat, and spend a relaxed afternoon making together as a community.
We’re back at Time and Talents, a local community organisation that brings people together to share skills and time, so it feels fitting to include a craft circle.
♿ Accessibility:
Our venue is wheelchair accessible. If you need any assistance on the day, don’t hesitate to get in touch; we’re happy to help.
🌍 Why come?
- Give your pre-loved fabric a second life, save resources, and reduce waste
- Enjoy an affordable, sustainable way to refresh your fabric stash
- Craft and connect with like-minded makers for the day at our craft circle

If cost is a barrier, a small number of reduced-cost places are available for each ticket type. Please contact me in confidence. Drop me a message here or a DM on Instagram @sewlonglane
What to Swap:
- Fabric pieces of at least 1 metre
- Label your fabric (if possible!) with details like length, width, fibre content, and if it’s been pre-washed. We'll have scissors and tape measures available just in case.
- Haberdashery is welcome too!
What to Expect:
- Tables grouped by fabric length: 1m / 1.5–2.5m / 3.5m+
- A haberdashery table
- Drop off your items, browse the treasures, and take what you love
- No limits, but swap mindfully and take only what you know you’ll use!

About Rotherhithe
I’ve been lucky enough to call Rotherhithe home for over 20 years, and it’s still one of London’s best-kept secrets. Tucked just across the river from Wapping, it shares a similar charm—but with even more tranquil waterways, leafy green spaces, and a deep sense of history.
After the event, why not explore some of the local gems that make this neighbourhood so special?
☕️ Watchhouse coffee shop - An alfresco coffee spot 1min from the fabric swap
🥐 Simplicity - For amazing baked goods from our local Bake Off contestant. 3 mins from the swap
🌿 Southwark Park – A beautiful, expansive green space with galleries, gardens, and peaceful walks
🐐 Surrey Docks Farm – A working city farm right by the Thames, and a cute coffee and cake shop, The Barn, with a farm shop around the back
🚇 The Brunel Museum – Discover the fascinating story of the Thames Tunnel and Brunel’s engineering marvels
🍻 The Mayflower Pub – One of London’s oldest riverside pubs
🦋 Russia Dock Woodland & Stave Hill Ecology Park – Hidden nature spots where you can escape the city buzz
We’re always happy to point you in the right direction—just ask on the day.
