Brick & Mortar: A Conversation on How Nightlife is Dying & How this Affects Black & Brown Queer People
About this Event

Chakula x Roots 'n' Rhythm Presents A New Queer Bruk Net’WERK’ing Event

Join us for a series of panels talks, music and more exploring the changing landscape of Queer Nightlife and Club culture in the UK. Note that this event was initially postponed due to strikes in September.

Date | Thursday 13 November 2025

Time | 7-10pm

Location | The Africa Centre

With more and more brick-and-mortar venues closing across London and the UK at large, it’s becoming increasingly important to have open and frank discussions about how this is affecting creatives in night life and other fields. For our first talk, we'll explore how nightlife is dying and how this affects black and brown (and queer) people in terms of work, community, and holding them back from a lot of things.

We will be in conversation with industry leaders who will have an open discussion about how nightlife now compares to nightlife over the past number of years and what the future looks like, how this affects black people and black queer people specifically - including black owned venues.

The panel talk will be followed by our speed-dating networking event and social with DJ sets! It will be an opportunity for creative industry experts to meet with people who want to break into the creative worlds in London.

About Queer Bruk

Queer Bruk is a clubnight and platform that aims to bridge the gap between queer nightlife and Afro-Caribbean music. We want to create safe spaces for black and brown queer people to celebrate the music a lot of us grew up listening to.
