What is Rooted?

Our ROOTED Community Series is comprised of workshops, webinars, and a bi-annual festival produced by the Apricots.

This educational outreach program is designed to bridge the gap between international artists and Berlin's local vibrant Arts’ scene, empowering creatives to navigate critical challenges in a foreign landscape while meeting the diverse needs of our local community.

Who are we?

We are a creative hub for multidisciplinary creators in Berlin and beyond. While you're in the creative zone, we're here to handle the nitty-gritty. We debate, strategize, and work behind the scenes, ensuring your creative vision becomes a reality.

➡️ Workshop 1: 2pm - 3:30pm // Entering & Staying in the German System by Angela Fegers

Learn tips and tricks for moving abroad and entering AND STAYING in the German system. Visa hacks, KSK tips, Social Security infos, Permanent Residency/ long term goals and new perspectives for taking a leap into your new home.

➡️ Workshop 2: 4:15pm -5:45pm // The Art of Budgeting and Production by Nadine Freisleben

Learn tips and tricks for budgeting for your life or show into the German system. Learn hacks to stay afloat in hard times and opportunties to make these difficult times easier, along with production tips and tricks from A to Z.

🍸 Happy Hour: 5:45pm - 7:00pm // Join us for one free drink on Apricot Productions if you participate in both seminars!

Angela Fegers is a creator, producer & entrepreneur from Central Florida, based in Berlin for seven years. Trained and raised as a classical dancer, from an early age Angela has always been creating and producing her own work. She has presented work in Germany, Netherlands, Iceland, Hungary & the States.

Angela trained in Ballet, Modern and Jazz in central Florida and in Miami, Florida before moving to NYC where she danced locally before relocating to Europe. In Europe she focused on creating her own work until 2021, when she co-founded the Apricot with Nadine Freisleben. In 2022, she co-founded The Hotel Who? in Los Angeles. The company produces interactive and immersive experiences in alternative venues inlcuding elements of dining, dress up, and period specific history to unsolve. Angela is a guest lecturer for NYU Berlin, where she offers assistance to aspiring expats from the graduating class, based on her experience and her informative Blookets on moving abroad: Berlin für Dummies.

Nadine Freisleben, born 1989 in Berlin, has been dancing professionally since 2008. In Lagos and elsewhere Nigeria she danced in, and choreographed for various Nigerian contemporary dance companies from 2008 to 2010. She choreographed for festivals of Goethe Institute and Alliance Francaise. During these exciting times she got acquainted with West African Contemporary Dance, which has had a significant influence on her dance and choreographic style. In 2015 she graduated from the school for performing arts 'die Etage Berlin' and since has worked with Chaim Gebber, Jennifer Mann, Sarah Bleasdale, Christine Fricker and Saskia Assohoto / Dancevertise. In 2013 she founded her own dance- theatre ensemble “GAU Company“. Her works were then shown in France, Portugal, Nigeria, Chile , Germany.

In 2021 - 2023 she worked at Tanzfabrik Berlin and 2021 founded the production company for freelance artists “Apricot Productions” together with US-American choreographer and dancer Angela Fegers. Today she also gives seminaries about production hacks organised by Dachverband Tanz (barcamp23, Distanzen Festival) and Tanzbüro Berlin.
