About this Event
Rooted in Health is a dynamic, half-day workshop designed for physicians and registered dietitians who want to translate nutrition science into practical, patient-centered care. This session focuses on the prevention and management of cardiovascular disease (CVD) and highlights how food-centered strategies can be effectively integrated into clinical practice.
Co-hosted by the NYU Department of Nutrition and Food Studies and the Brownsville Community Culinary Center, this event will take place at the NYU Food Lab on NYU’s Washington Square campus. Blending evidence-based teaching with real-world culinary experience, participants will learn alongside physicians, dietitians, and chefs as they explore heart-healthy dietary patterns, food selection, and simple preparation techniques.
The program includes academic lectures, interactive discussions, culinary demonstrations, take-home resources, and networking opportunities.
By the end of this workshop, learners will be able to:
- Summarize the current evidence behind dietary approaches for preventing and managing CVD.
- Implement practical, patient-centered strategies that support lifestyle adoption of heart-healthy eating, including food-selection skills and foundational culinary techniques.

Continuing education credits will be available for registered dietitians and physicians.
