About this Event
Streetcars at dusk, skyline sunsets, hidden cafés, park walks, lake breezes, chance encounters, and summer nights that change everything. Toronto is full of places where love stories begin.
Join acclaimed writer and University of Toronto instructor, Leanne Toshiko Simpson for a fun, interactive evening designed to help you create your own city romance. Explore how to build unforgettable characters, spark chemistry, and use settings to deepen dialogue, tension, and connection. Whether your story begins in a neighbourhood bookstore (like ours!), on a crowded subway platform, or during a late-night walk through Kensington Market, this workshop will help bring your romance to life. Includes writing prompts, discussion, Q&A, and a special guest to be announced.
Come ready to write through prompts inspired by iconic Toronto-set romances and leave with a city-centric summer reading list!
