Rochester Photobook Club is an informal get-together for people who like photography and books. Think of it like a book club, but specifically for books by photographers. Some of our quarterly sessions will focus on a particular book, whilst others are centred around a theme and photobooks exploring this theme.
The meet-ups are an opportunity to see new photographic projects and to discuss and reflect on image-making with other photographers in the local area.
Rochester Photobook Club began in 2015 when two ex-KIAD students (Rikard Österlund and Tracy Affleck) wanted to create a space to share their love of photography with like-minded people. They held regular meet-ups until 2020 when COVID times made things challenging, BUT it is now back.
Theme For May Event: Not Just A Book…
This month’s Photobook Club theme is photographers and publishers who make beautiful objects that we engage with or experience differently from traditional photobooks.
From unique formats and binding, to paper choices, to the way they’re sequenced (or not sequenced!)… what makes a book more than a book?
Feel free to bring along any books you’d like to share.
