Aim: To continue to develop practitioners’ skills in reflective supervision

Target Audience:

Practitioners and Supervisors across LLR with safeguarding responsibilities, e.g. Designated Safeguarding Leads.

This Multi-Agency Reflective Skills Training course is designed to strengthen the skills

of practitioners and supervisors with safeguarding responsibilities by developing a

greater collective understanding of the core components of good reflective supervision.

It will enable learners to recognise how reflective supervision can make a real

difference to staff and crucially the children, young people and families they work with

and give them an opportunity to practice reflective supervision skills in a safe and

supportive learning environment. It is also intended to support a sense of multi-agency

collaborative working and focus on the child in safeguarding practice. This in turn

increases the learners’ confidence to professionally challenge colleagues across

agencies.


 To understand the importance of supervision policies and supervisionTo consider the Purpose and Principles of Supervision - with particular emphasis on supervision for those in safeguarding roles.

 To understand the importance of supervision policies and supervision

agreements.

 To explore the core components of reflective supervision and how reflective

supervision can ensure the supervisee and supervisor stay focused on the child

and the child’s lived experience

 To explore a number of tools and strategies that can be used to aid reflective supervision.

 To recognise the impact of anxiety, work pressures, emotions and past experiences on the supervisory relationship and supervision cycle.

 To use scenarios and role play to practice using the tools and insights gained.

 To begin to reflect, analyse and plan how to put the learning from the day into

practice.


By the end of the training course participants will have gained:

 Increased knowledge, confidence and skills in reflective supervision.

 Increased sense of shared knowledge, purpose and good practice across services

and organisations.


‘Safeguarding Competencies’ met by the course:

Can be used as evidence for a number of competencies, in particular : 1,5,6,10,13,16 and 19.

Handouts will be given on the day and/or distributed by the trainer after the training sessions.
