This event is open to students, alumni, and the DU community and will also include time for Q&A with the speakers.
Event speakers:
Dr. Courtney Welton-Mitchell, Director of Evaluation and Research at the Center for Victims of Torture. As a long time aid worker, researcher and ‘pracademic’ working with U.N. organizations, NGOs, international NGOs, and community service organizations, Dr. Welton-Mitchell will focus on the impact of the EO from the vantage point of the Center for Victims of Torture, one NGO that has been dramatically impacted, including being forced to close nearly all global programs and furloughing a large amount of their workforce.
Dr. Lawrence Garber, Adjunct Professor at the University of Denver and International Development Consultant. As a former USAID Policy Bureau Acting Assistant Administrator and Mission Director of the West Bank/Gaza, Dr. Garber will highlight the implications of foreign aid closures.
