More about the Eastern Redbud
The Eastern Redbud (Cercis canadensis) is native to our region and known for its heart-shaped leaves, showstopping flowers, and seed pods that release small dark seeds in the fall that are highly valued by wildlife. It is often found in woodlands, forest edges, and along stream banks.
One of the first trees to blossom in the spring, the Eastern Redbud boasts lively pink and purple blooms along its branches, and its compact size makes it a great fit under a powerline. Redbud is often used as a garden accent under the shade of larger trees.
