During our time together, we invite you into an expanded perception of who we are and the experience of our fundamental interrelation with the more-than-human world.

Coming home to where we are is where we will begin. Through sensing our deep embeddedness in nature, we are learning to engage a regenerative intelligence beyond the intellect. By working with ancient and new ways of experiencing embodied existence, we can open up to our next steps on the path.

In this daylong we will explore our roots in this web of life through reflections, guided meditations, movement, inquiry and Q&R.

Santacitta Bhikkhuni was born in Austria and did her graduate studies in Cultural Anthropology, focusing on dance, theatre and ritual. She also worked in avant-garde dance theatre as a performer and costume designer. In 1988 she met Ajahn Buddhadasa in southern Thailand, who sparked her interest in Buddhist monastic life. She trained as a nun in England and Asia from 1993 until 2009, primarily in the lineage of Ajahn Chah. Since 2002, she has also received teachings in the lineage of Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche.

Santacitta Bhikkhuni co-founded Aloka Vihara in 2009 and received Bhikkhuni Ordination in 2011. She is committed to Gaia as a living being and resides at Aloka Earth Room, currently located in San Rafael, CA.

Heather grew up in the Mojave Desert, Ca. She left home to pursue her passion for academics and learning. After completing her graduate studies in Psychology, she worked in welfare and government systems. Eventually, she felt a need to go beyond psychology to understand people’s suffering. In her search, she discovered the teachings of meditation and the Dhamma. She spent time integrating these experiences and aspires to further embody what she has learned and share with others.

Now living at the Aloka Earth Room, she undertakes a year of Lay Training. An opportunity that affords her and others like herself a chance to deepen their spiritual practice, while maintaining a foothold in the working world.
