From queer revolutionaries, through censorship, to contemporary trans and genderqueer authors, come explore Dublin's storied queer heritage!About this Event
Dublin’s intimate relationship with the written word is well-known. In this Pride Month tour – the first of its kind – we will journey through its streets and explore its storied queer past – its people, places and texts. We will hear tales of resilience and celebration, from a sex worker-turned-novelist whose path may have crossed with Wilde's, through the censorship of Kate O’Brien’s novels, to the flourishing careers of contemporary trans and genderqueer writers – and much else besides. Moving from the late nineteenth-century to the present day, learn about those writers whose lives and works were marked by this city, and who have left their own enduring mark on it.
