About this Event
The photojournalists with Project Hope Palestine (PHP) are on the ground in Gaza, capturing the reality of daily life through their lens. Join us for a live conversation with these journalist and PHP Director Iyas Sartawi. This exhibit brings their photography to the East Bay—alongside the poetry of a mother living in the refugee camps PHP has supported—so our community can witness the stories often ignored by mainstream media. All funds collected are being raised for the families of martyred journalist. $25-50 sliding scale donations at the door. No one turned away for lack of funds.
Program
- Live Zoom call with three photo journalist with Project Hope Palestine, Aziz Afifi, Fadi Thabet and Wael Al-Halabi on the ground in Gaza at 2:30 pm (12:30 am their time)
- Photography exhibit (prints will be available for purchase)
- Live Palestinian music
- Poetry reading — recent writings by Amina, a poet and mother living in Gaza
- Presentation on the current situation in Gaza by Project Hope Palestine Director Iyas Sartawi

About Project Hope Palestine
Project Hope Palestine is a mutual aid organization supporting individuals and families in Gaza with basic needs. This event is self-funded — 100% of all donations go directly to people and groups in Gaza. Funds for this event are being raised for the families of journalists who have been killed by Israel.
Co-organized by Albany & El Cerrito for Palestine and Project Hope Palestine. As always, our events are self-funded. Every dollar goes directly to Gaza.
