Does Incorporation ensure Irresponsibility?

Corporations are often blamed for breaching standards of social responsibility that they officially endorse. But many regular corporations are unfit to be held responsible to such norms: they simply lack the capacity to comply. This argues, not for excusing corporate offenders, but for supporting the standards in law.

About the speaker:

Professor Philip Pettit is L.S.Rockefeller University Professor of Human Values in Princeton University and Distinguished Professor of Philosophy at the Australian National University. Books related to the theme of this lecture include Group Agency, with Christian List, (OUP2011), The State (Princeton UP 2023) and When Minds Converse (OUP 2025).
