About this Event
Painting a portrait can feel like a daunting undertaking. In this workshop, you will learn a structured approach which utilises blocking in techniques whilst observing the overall facial structure before gradually tightening up the details. By the end of the workshop you will have gained the confidence to develop your own portrait paintings from photographs with your newly acquired observational skills. Reference images will be provided.
This workshop is ideal for artists from beginner to improving levels who would like to gain experience in painting portraits in oils.
What will I learn?
- The importance and principals of measuring and facial structure.
- How to approach painting the human face as a whole before moving into details.
- How to mix realistic flesh tones.
- Advice on materials to get you started with your own portraits.
