A Special PopUp PlayDate where we’ll welcome in the Spring season and take what’s old and give it new life.
About this Event

The theme is Renewal.

Join us for a very special PopUp PlayDate where we’ll welcome in the Spring season and take what’s old and give it new life. In collaboration with visual artist Kimberly Antoinette (founder of Thread the Culture), we’re ditching the formal lesson plan for a creative textile jam session.

This is an open invitation to play with textiles, experiment with jewelry making, and craft one-of-a-kind patches. Whether you’re looking to refresh an old denim jacket or transform textile scraps into statement jewelry, we’re here to help you activate that wardrobe glow-up.

We’ll have a full spread of supplies ready for you to repurpose, refresh, and reimagine your favorite items. Attendees are welcome to use our provided items or bring your own jackets, shirts, totes – and of course your imagination!

We’ll enjoy bites and bubbles and then we’ll create. Our PlayDates are spaces of refuge that center community, culture, and connection to help you destress and infuse your life with more joy and play.
For Black and Brown Women Who:

  • Love upcycling and want to learn new tricks
  • Have never upcycled before
  • Love doing arts and crafts
  • Want to Refresh an old item you love
  • Seek creative community with other women
  • Want to try something different

Your ticket includes:

  • Mimosas
  • Light Snacks
  • Guidance from artist Kimberly Antoinette
  • Upcycling art supplies (including items you can work on*)
  • You take what you make

Guests are welcome to bring in their own jackets, bags, or jewelry to upcycle or use what we provide. You are also invited to tap into the Richmond Museum Free Library -- bring something to leave and take something new back home.
