About this Event
In this workshop from The Perfromance Project at University Settlement Artist-in-Residence Deniz Khateri, participants will share poetry and text from their first language and some of its translations. There will then be discussions on the words that are more challenging to find equivalents for in English and we’ll be exploring how to visualize those concepts as well as the music of the words in the original text.
Workshop participants will be limited to 10. The workshop will also be open to a limited number of observers.
Please note: this workshop will take place on the top floor of the University Settlement building, which is accessed by taking an elevator then going up an additional staircase and a half.

University Settlement partners with 40,000+ New Yorkers in Lower Manhattan and Brooklyn every year to build on our collective strengths as we achieve healthy, stable, and remarkable lives. For nearly 140 years, we’ve fought poverty and systemic inequality by building highly effective social services in collaboration with our neighbors. Established in 1886 as the first Settlement House in the United States, we bring the values of that movement into the 21st century by meeting New Yorkers where they live, listening deeply to all perspectives, and creating space for responsive cooperation.
Since 2007, The Performance Project at University Settlement has been offering local young artists and professional emerging artists opportunities to connect, create and publicly present new work.
