About this Event
Playtime (1967) by Jacques Tati begins as a satire of our built environment and transforms into a celebration of how people navigate public spaces. The film is almost wordless, yet every detail has a voice, with sound effects as prominent as the soundtrack. Viewers become active participants, choosing which stories to follow.
It encourages the audience to observe the world around them—the environment we continuously shape—revealing both the humour and the unexpected possibilities in our interactions, even within a landscape shaped by uniform spaces.
Join us for this special outdoor cinema screening of Playtime by Jacques Tati. Participants are invited to grab a bucket of popcorn and enjoy. The screening is something which can be joined at any point so feel free to just drop in on the day.
The Outdoor Cinema Programme is a collaboration between East Side Cinema and Excite, that is being run as part of Waterside Together.
Waterside Together is supported by PEACEPLUS, a programme managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB) and funded under the theme of Community Regeneration and Transformation, and it is also funded through Derry City and Strabane District Council’s PEACEPLUS Local Co-Designed Action Plan.
Waterside Together is managed by Waterside Neighbourhood Partnership.
