About this Event
Words on Wheels is a unique poetry experience for National Poetry Day 2026, combining a gentle guided cycle with live literature across the city.
Hosted by Cat Brogan in partnership with Life Cycles and Poetry Ireland, this free event invites participants to travel together by bike, stopping at locations around Derry to hear poems inspired by the theme of Home. Along the route, there will also be opportunities for participants to share their own work or poetry they like, as part of an open “bike” — a welcoming space for voices of all levels.
The ride is slow-paced, mostly off-road, and open to all abilities. Bikes are provided, and no previous experience with poetry is needed — just come along, listen, and take part.
