About this Event
To celebrate Poetry Day Ireland, you are invited to join us for a creative writing workshop exploring the relationship between poetry and visual art. A collaboration between Excite and Eastside Cinema, the workshop focuses on ekphrasis, the art of writing in response to visual material as a way of opening up creative expression and discovering new forms of poetic engagement. We will use writing prompts, poetic material, and curated clips from Jacques Tati’s film ‘Playtime’ to find inspiration, play with the interaction between word and image, and take part in the annual island-wide celebration of poetry and imagination.
Open to present and future poetry lovers - no experience needed, just an open mind and willingness to create!
28th May, 6-8pm, CCA Derry~Londonderry, 10-12 Artillery Street, BT48 6RG
Attendance free, booking essential

What people have said about her workshops:
‘Beautifully facilitated.’
'Brilliant! My inner writer has been set free.'
'Katharina facilitated “Writing From The Archive”, Northern Ireland Screen’s partnership event with the University of Ulster and part of the Northwest Learning City Region Lifelong Learning Festival. Using the film archives as a creative writing prompt is a new avenue for us and Katharina was excellent to work with. At the event, she was positive and encouraging, listening carefully to the participants and leading the process with empathy and thoughtful guidance. We would be delighted to work with Katharina again and highly recommend her as a public engagement facilitator. '
