Play Day - experience playing in an ensemble (14 March 2026)

Come and join us for instrumental Play Day at Walthamstow School for Girls on Saturday 14th March from 2:00PM to 4:30PM . This is a fantastic opportunity to meet and make music with other students from Waltham Forest who are between Grade 1 to Grade 5 standard on their instruments and in Year 4 and above.

Students will rehearse in sectionals (smaller groups of young musicians playing the same instrument or part led by an expert instrumental music teacher) and then combine to form a massed ensemble of children and young people, with a showcase concert at the end of the afternoon.

About the day:

• No ensemble or group playing experience is needed
• The course is led by music teachers from Waltham Forest Music Service
• Open to musicians who are in Year 4 upwards
• We welcome all wind, brass and string players (violin, viola, cello, double bass, flute, oboe, clarinet, oboe, bassoon, trumpet, trombone, french horn, tuba)
• Students will need to bring their instrument/s along
• Students can bring a drink and any snacks required. (No nuts please)
• Fees are £25 per pupil + £2.80 booking fee ; 50% discount for families on a low income
